Immigration nets two Congolese over fake Malawi travel documents

Immigration officers at Mwanza border in southern Malawi  has intercepted and apprehended two Congolese nationals for being found with fake Malawians travel documents.

Fake documentsMwanza Border immigration spokesperson Senior Immigration Assistant Pasqual Zulu said Wednesday evening that Mr Lwahano Mulagalala aged 29 and Mr Kazungu Mulagalala aged 23 all have boarded a  Marsmerry bus registration number KMZ 89 ZN which operates Blantyre-Johanesburg route.

“Upon searching them it was discovered that they were in possession of fake Malawi Emergency Travel Document (E.T.D) bearing particulars of  Lyford Makiyi from Konzalendo Village T/A Nsabwe Thyolo district Document No 87654700 issued on 29/06/16.

“And particulars of another offender were bearing the name of Adam Kamwana from Chitedze Village T/A Nsundwe Lilongwe district Document No 0087410. It was issued on 07/07/16.

Zulu said the two have been detained at Mwanza Prison “whilst we are still investigating on the reasons behind coming to Malawi and also enquire from them who is behind the syndicate in the production of fake Emergency Travel Document”.

He says “any lapse on our side can compromise our national security and social economic development.

Zulu said anyone found  behind the syndicate will face the law.
