In an interview with Nyasa Times, Democratic Progress Party  (DPP) parliamentarian for the area who is also the champion of the initiative Mary Navicha said she is happy that her dream of empowering the jobless youths in her area with vocational skills is becoming true.

She further added that,”this is a pure project for my constituents, the funds for this project  were exclusively sourced from the Constituency development fund (CDF).I came up with this center because I saw that the youths in my constituency are affected by extreme poverty due to early marriages, high school dropout rate and financial constraints among other factors.

“But with the coming in of Ntambanyama Skills development center, this is a great relief to them and an opportunity to start a new life having undergone through an intensive training.“

According to   Navicha the equipment and the training to the 120 students were provided  by TEVETA which will also facilitate certification to the outgoing students.

The function is expected to start at around 8:00 am and will be graced by TEVET Malawi Board Chair, Mr Gilbert Chilinde, Thyolo District council officials which includes the District commissioner, the District Youth Officer and the people from the surrounding communities.
