20 models set for Miss Valentine contest set for Feb 17

About 20 beauties are set to strut their stuff at the Miss Valentine 2013 contest scheduled for Sunday February 17 at the Chez Ntemba International Club in Blantyre.

Besides the  modeling, there  will be music galore by Dan Lu, Diktator, D’ rhano, Pon G and Weapon and also The Blast. The club’s resident DJ Trigger will be the man on the turntable, spinning danceable and romantic melodies.

Whoever wins in the contest will be given a K50, 000 worth shopping voucher courtesy of L. Devraj in addition to a cash prize.

The gig starts as early as 4pm with games and competitions for the best dressed couple, best dancer and of course those spotted wearing the  traditional Valentine Day’s colours – red, white and black – will be given free glasses of champagne.

One of the organisers of the contest Nicra Watts Chikopa said they were happy that the beauty contest attracted some of the professional models on the local scene.

According to Chikopa, Miss Valentine is a beauty pageant for young ladies across the country and it is aimed at grooming young girls to become  professional models. She said apart from the music and the fashion show, the event will incoporate motivational speakers who will address young people about their rightful roles in this time of social  and economic challenges.

“These motivational speakers will also seize this opportunity to tip love birds on how they can take their relationships to greater heights,” Chikopa said.

The event is also expected to be glanced by Malawi’s top models and beauty queens. These are Miss Warm Heart of Africa Aisha Chiwaula, Miss  Blantyre Tamara Malika Chitanda, former Miss Malawi Faith Chibale and former Malawi News Model Gladys Kumbatira.

“As Tabwera entertainment, we are excited that we have attracted some of the professional models
in Blantyre and other surrounding districts. We want to give couples an opportunity to dance the night away and the décor will also show the theme of love,” a spokesperson said.

This will be the second time for the event to take place at Chez Ntemba following another successful show last year.

During the 2012 show, Chimwemwe Chokani, was crowned the overall winner while
Tadala Ndisale and Elisha Banda were crowned as first and second  princess respectively.
