25 picked in Search for Star: Malawi talent show

Sunbird Search for a Star talent show  has selected 25 contestants for studio auditions from which the best 16 will be selected for the first round of second edition of the show.

Sunbird Tourism Limited public relations officer Akossa Mphepo said the contestants have been selected after auditioning in Mzuzu, Zomba, Blantyre, Lilongwe, Salima and Mangochi.

Mphepo said auditions which were held before judges Dumisani Mfune, Rudo Chakwera and Marvin Hanke were tougher this year and was pleased with “quality”, saying it is “better than last year.”

The 25 contestants are expected to camp at Sunbird Mount Soche on Wednesday in readiness for next phase, which is the studio auditions.

According to the producers, E-Wallet, part from the studio auditions they will go through training to prepare them for the live shows.

“In camp they will go through voice coaching as well as mental and physical preparations before going through the elimination phase, which is the studio sessions. They will be given instrumentals to test their vocals,” said Felix Njawala, chairperson of E-Wallet.
