A twist in Malawi talent show E-Wallet: Next show on Dec 24

With last but one show to go to the end of the E-Wallet Talent Show, organisers of the competition have brought a twist to Malawi’s own version of the Pop Music Idols.

In the next show, scheduled to take place on Monday, 24 December, at Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre, contestants will perform two songs each, for the singers, while the dancers will appear on stage twice.

There are seven contestants remaining in the 2012 E-Wallet Talent Show, following the eviction of Hannah Kadammanja and Eric Matewere in the previous show which happened in Lilongwe on 8 December.

According to the producers of the show, Goma Nyondo of Mzuzu, who wowed the audience during the last show at Capital Hotel with Oliver Mtukudzi songs Ndakuvhara and Todii, will this time do UB4O’s Red Red Wine and Sir Elton John’s Sacrifice.

Blantyre-based Wakhumbachi Kaluwa will be fighting for a place in the final with Killing me softly by Fugees and Someone like you by Kelly Clackson while Guise Pemba, from Lilongwe, is expected to perform You are beautiful by James Blunt and Careless whisper by George Michael.

The other contenders, Mick Monyo, another Mzuzu-based resident will perform My heart will go on by Celine Dion and Better in time by Leona Lewis while Taonga Kanthungo, from Lilongwe will do Because you love me by Celine Dione and What the Lord has done in me by Hillsong.

There are two dancing groups remaining in the competition namely the Elements Dance Crew and The Floor Steppers, both from the commercial city and the two, who are neck-to-neck, are expected to have two sets each.

In this year’s competition, which ends on 31 December, K500,000 is at stake, plus a recording deal from MultiChoice Malawi, which will enable the winner to record an album and music videos that are expected to be on Channel O.

“Remember the winner takes it all and this person will represent Malawi, so our appeal to the general public is ‘vote wisely’”, says E-Wallet project coordinator Anthony Kafuwa.

Meanwhile, apart from performances from the contestants, the audience will also be treated to gospel music from Ndefeyo Gospel record company’s new signings Patience Namadingo and Mada Ngoleka, who will have their first public appearance together.
