Adrian releases first al album: Search for a Star champ

The 2013 Sunbird Search for a Star champ, Adrian Kwelepeta, has released his first album titled All I Have.

The Lilongwe-based singer-songwriter and guitarist released the eight-track record last Friday, few hours before his performance at the Sand Music Festival in Salima.

He said the album was titled after track number two on the CD.

Adrian said despite naming the album after one of the tracks, he said All I Have had a special meaning.

“It actually carries a different meaning, the guitar is all I have had from my childhood, nothing else, just my guitar, and even until now it’s ‘All I Have”, explained the 20-year-old.

Adrian further revealed that he had recorded 30 songs but decided to settle for eight for the debut record, which comprises R&B, soft rock, rap and afro pop pieces.

“I am mostly a soft rock artist though able to create any kind of music, but I just thought this album should show all the things I am capable of doing when it comes to music,” said the singer, who is currently studying music at the Music Crossroads Academy in Lilongwe.

Adrian worked with different producers to come up with the album, including DJ Sley, Vic Chill, Uncle Layi, Tendai Makhala and Shadrek.

The singer, who was one of the best performers at the Sand Music Festival, where it was his fist time performing with his band, described his set as one of the best moments in his developing music career.

“It was like a split second away from reality because the crowd responded to the music and I could feel the energy created by the music me and my band made.

“It was one of my best and amazing experiences with music I have ever had and it has encouraged me to work harder with my band for our next performance at the Lake of Stars.

Commenting on his future as a musician, the artist had this to say: “Music is totally who I am, that means I will only stop doing it when I’m maybe too old to even sing and play guitar.

“I will still be releasing more albums, doing more shows with my beloved band, travelling, making videos (watch out for Life the video coming out soon), basically this is just the start of my life time journey as a musician,” Adrian pointed out.
