Nothern Region has more educated people than any other, If you check around people who are doing well are northerners, I am pround to be from Rumphi and Livingstonia to be precise.

You should also read the World bank report on completion of primary and secondary school in Malawi. Thyolo and Chiradzulu are the lowest. A lot of children drop out at standard three. The trend continues at the secondary school level. Comparing methodology and outcomes of PAC report on federalism and ADB literacy report is ridiculous coz ADB are independent but PAC are political and not independent

I do NOT know if these data are believable. At a glance, the numbers appear to be way below the true life expectancy. The highest being 53.1 yrs for Rumphi males? In 2012, the average for males in the whole country was reported to be 55. And currently, the CIA estimates the averages to be 58 and 62 for males and females, respectively. So, who to believe? To me the CIA is more believable. And in translating statistical averages, and if Rumphi men live longest, then it means their average LE must be more than 58 (the CIA number), Not… Read more »

This data is interesting. There seem to be a correlation between Chikamwini culture and low literacy levels at play here. Quota system will never reverse this trend without implementing ‘real ‘ family structures in the Chikamwini culture – that will be the solution like it or hate it . A real family values its children and ensures that they go to school, are fed and dressed. a Chikamwini father (most) does not care at all.
