Africa Netball Championship opens in Malawi: Uganda arrives late

The African Netball Championship officially opened in Malawi on MondayUganda  missed the opening ceremony the commercial capital Blantyre as they arrived late due to transport problems.

The Eastern African side traveled on a bus all the way from Uganda to Blantyre forcing them to arrive late.

Thousands of fans descended on College of Medicine ground for the glittering opening ceremony.

The first team to parade during the opening ceremony was Botswana carrying their flag while dancing Makhirikhiri followed by the rest of the teams with the hosting country Malawi Queens being the last.

In red with green and black stripes, the Malawi Queens paraded beaming with confidence as Takondwa Lwazi and Bridget Kumwenda carried the Malawian flag.

Thereafter, the three cars with models in national colours stormed College of Medicine ground with a glittering trophy which was handed over to the Minister of Youth and Sports Enock Chihana.

Chihana then handed over the trophy to the main organizers.

Now the journey starts for Malawi Queens  o make sure that the trophy should not cross the boarders.

The Queens kicked-off their campaign on a high note as they clipped Zimbabwe 68-43 baskets .
