Airtel Malawi on Tuesday conducted the first draw for the ongoing Tayale-Tayale Promotion, which saw a Monkey Bay based man Harry Banda winning the first MK1 million.
Under the Tayale-Tayale Promotion, Airtel has been giving out daily cash prizes of K2,000 to each of the first 10 customers making Airtel Money transactions of a minimum K2,000 every hour from 8am to 6pm.
Mr Money will further be giving out K1 million cash prizes to one lucky customer every month-end between June and August before dishing out the grand prize of K5 million at the end of the promotion, which is set to close on August 31, 2016.
Speaking during the first draw for the monthly K1 million prize, Airtel Money Country Director Francis Matseketsa said the company has so far given out K8 million to 400 customers.
He described the response from customers from the day the promotion started as overwhelming: “Since we rolled out the promotion on May 25, 2016, there has been an overwhelming response from customers with 60,000 new customers registering on Airtel Money.
“The purpose of this promotion is to encourage customers use Airtel Money by making bill payments in the comfort of their homes and do other cash transactions through Airtel Money. We also want to plough back to the public and excite our customers through the cash prizes,” said Matseketsa.
During the draw, which was conducted in the presence of an official from the Malawi Gaming Board, Banda emerged first winner of the monthly prizes.
The customer, could not be reached when Airtel Marketing Manager Tione Kafumbu tried to call him to break the good news but his details were established after checking in the system, which revealed he has also done Airtel Money transactions on the same day.
