Airtel Malawi tops marketing awards by Chartered Institute

Leading mobile network service provider, Airtel Malawi, dominated in Malawi’s inaugural Marketing Excellence Awards courtesy of The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Members’ Group held last Friday in Blantyre at Ryalls Hotel.

Airtel’s Bola Kunthazi Promotion scooped the Marketing Campaign of the Year accolade for its depth and breadth impact in transforming the business and welfare of masses across the country.

Anchoring the campaign of the year, Airtel’s Marketing Manager Tanmoy Saha was also crowned the champion in the Marketer of the Year category.

Meanwhile, the brand’s properties, namely, Bola Kunthazi, Timaitha and Kutapa earned Airtel an award as a Life Changing Brand.

According to CIM Members’ Group, highlighted Airtel’s properties had changed peoples’ lives technologically, financially, socially and politically or legally.

Sealing the dominance of Airtel in the awards, Mr Money was crowned the Television Commercial of Year for creatively capturing masses’ attention whilst delivering brand communications.

“The awards speak volumes of the brand’s gravity. Thank you Malawi and we shall continue to grow bigger and better,” said Airtel Malawi’s Public Relations Manager Edith Tsilizani in reaction to the awards.

In a related development, Airtel’s official advertising agency, roofhouse Ogilvy stood heads and shoulders above other advertising agencies in the country to win the Advertising Agency of the Year award.

CIM Members’ Group has since promised to make the event an annual tradition in the country in a bid to breathe a new lease of vibrant marketing life.

During the event, guests were treated to a live concert by Edgar & Davis plus Giddes Chalamanda, as well as a half a million kwacha worth raffle draw courtesy of Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS).
