Airtel Malawi’s Fortuner grand prize winner revealed: Teen boy student

An 18-year-old man Makiyoni Kayuni, a Form One student at Iponga Community Day Secondary School based at Songwe in Karonga on Tuesday won the grand prize of Toyota Fortuner in Airtel’s Bola Kunthazi promotion.

The K40 million worth vehicle prize ends the promotion which Airtel Malawi has been run running since April this year.

According to Airtel Malawi managing director, the company has spent over K200 million in various prizes, including 10 Toyota Hilux vehicles cash prizes, Samsung phones and airtime won on weekly basis.

Kayuni, who works as a cook in the district to raise funds for his daily transport to school, said he was delighted to emerge the winner but said he didn’t know what to do with the vehicle.fortuner

“I am excited. This is a fortune for me, thank you Airtel,” he said in an interview with Nyasa Times.

Chilima said the Airtel ‘Bola Kunthazi’ promotion was a game of luck and utilisation on their network, which he said have seen people of diverse backgrounds winning prizes.

“We are, therefore, happy to have been able to put a smile on some people’s faces, giving them a chance of winning 10 brand new Toyota Hilux pick-up vehicles and millions of kwacha plus other consolation prizes in the Bola Kunthazi promotion,” said Chilima.

“So objectives of creating excitement and sharing with customers have been very well achieved.”

Minister of Youth Development and Sports Enoch Chihana drew the final winner and commended Airtel for giving out the prizes, which he said are contributing to the advancement of people’s livelihoods in communities.

Chihana said “Government commends Airtel for coming up with such a meaningful promotion and especially for executing it professionally.”
