Ali Kaka charged with murder remanded to Chichiri prison,  as residents loot his house

Blantyre Magistrates Court has charged businessman Ali Kaka Chinemba with murder before remanding him to Chichiri Prison for allegedly killing 20 year-old Davie Kadzuwa Banda with a pump gun.

Ali Kaka, one of the close associates of former Justice Minister Ralph Kasambara and contested for Blantyre City South Constituency and lost to fellow independent Allan Ngumuya, appeared before Principal Resident Magistrate, Innocent Nebi Tuesday afternoon after spending a night at Soche police station.

Meanwhile, Nebi has committed the case to the High Court which has jurisdiction to handle such matters as Kaka awaits trial at Chichiri prison.

However, the situation was not all that conducive for his family as angry residents in Manja Township this afternoon stoned and looted his residence before setting on fire personal vehicle.

The angry mob have stolen various house items, smashed windows and had to be cooled down by the police who are currently patrolling the area.

Southern Region police spokesperson, Nicholas Gondwa said no person has been arrested so far in relation to the incident as the law-enforcers are hunting for the instigators.

“His (Kaka’s) house has been broken into; the wife and children had to run away; but almost all his house property has been looted. As police we have managed to calm down the situation, and we have several other officers patrolling the area right now as we are investigating the matter,” said Gondwa.

Kaka handed himself to Soche Police on Monday night for killing Davie Kadzuwa Banda after picking a quarrel with him and his friends who were on a lorry that was off-loading sand next to Chinemba’s house.

Tempers are said to have heated up when the aspiring politician started shouting at Banda and his colleagues for wrongly parking the truck which had blocked the road leading to his house.

The driver of the lorry was not around at that time, which apparently angered Chinemba who produced a pump gun and shot at the deceased who died on the spot.

Postmortem done by College of Medicine revealed that Banda, who hailed from Chatulo village T /A Namkumba in Mangochi district, died of bullet wound he sustained on lower jaw- jawbone.

Angry residents in Manja have torched his  latest BMW which was packed just within his compound.

Others took advantage of the situation to  steal property from the house.

His wife and daughter escaped unhurt, according to some onlookers.

Meanwhile, Police officers are still manning the house protecting it from further damage.

Ali Kaka, aged 35, hails from Makuta 1 village in Traditional Authority Malengachanzi in Nkhotakota
