Alliance One Tobacco donates K1.6m to Home of Hope for education of orphans

The Alliance One Tobacco on Friday donated a K1.6 million to Home of Hope in Mchinji for the outreach education  programme for the payment of 80 students in various secondary  schools.

The money is to be used for payment of students who are in government aided schools but are struggling to source school  fees.

According to the founder of the school,  Reverend Thomson Chipeta, the money will help in paying school fees to the needy students.

Alliance One Tobacco Social Services Coordinator Godfrey Chimenya urged the students to work hard in schools.

Chimenya said the company will continue with the programme as one way of ending child labour.

Mchinji District Social Welfare only identified as Mr Watch commended Alliance One Tobacco for complimenting government effort in improving education.

Home of Hope is an orphanage where US based pop diva Madonna adopted a child, David Banda.
