Anne Kansiime arrives Thursday for Lilongwe comedy show

Africa’s ‘Queen of Comedy’, Uganda’s Anne Kansiime, is set to be in Malawi on Thursday for her scheduled performance in Lilongwe this weekend.

The show dubbed ‘A Celebration of African Humour’ is slated for Saturday, 17 May at the Bingu International Conference Centre in the capital city.

“Anne is expected to be in the country on Thursday,” Norah Chavula, media and publicity consultant at Qoncept Creative, the firm organising the show, told Nyasa Times on Monday.

The show will feature a fusion of different humourous acts incorporating musical comedy, parody and stand-up comedy from supporting acts Scott Grey, Maclean Mbepula and Diana Satha.

The comedian has since said she looks forward to perform in Malawi where she will be performing for the first time.

“I have such a good feeling about my show in Malawi. I just can’t wait to meet and make new ninjas,” she recently posted on her official Facebook page Kansiime Anne/ Entertainer.

When asked on what Malawians should expect from the show, Kansiime cheerfully said: “This coming week, no matter how hard your week will be, or how hard things get or how rude your boss is, or how insensitive everyone around you is, just sit it out, take in all the bad and negative things, because come May 17th, expect to be relieved of all your troubles and stress at my show!”

The ‘Queen of Comedy’ shot to fame when her comedy skit videos went viral in which she plays a character role called Kansiime Anne who acts out various real life dramatized hilarious situations.

Apart from being a famed comedy actress, Anne Kansiime is also an established stand-up comedian who has performed in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Zambia, London, her home country Uganda, including recently performing for Her Majesty the Queen of England for the Commonwealth Day celebrations.

The multitalented, award winning Anne is also an actress, singer and owner and host of a renowned TV show called “Don’t Mess With Kansiime” which airs weekly on Citizen TV in Kenya.

The Malawi ‘Celebrating African Humour’ show is expected to start at 19:30hrs with advance tickets available at MK 6,000 and venue/door tickets will be available at MK 8,000.
