Another person with albinism killed in Malawi: Thyolo businessman on the run
Malawi Police are hunting for a famous businessman in Thyolo who is on the run after allegedly killing a person with albinism.
Police confirmed the death of 17 year old Sunganani Pensulo.
The police say the businessman Willard Mikayele of Chief Nsabwe’s area allegedly enticed Pensulo with biscuits and juice into the house of the suspect where the victim was killed.
Pensulo is the 19th person with albinism to be killed by those who think the body parts of the person with albinism can bring fortunes and wealth.
The spokesperson for police in Thyolo said when Pensulo entered the house of Mikayele and was eating the biscuit and drinking the juice, Mikayele came from behind and roped his neck to choke him before hitting him with a sharp object.
“People around the area heard the cries and went to the chief who ordered that the door be broken and the body was found but Mikayele had run away,” said the spokesperson.
In retaliation, relatives of Mikayele have demolished 11 houses belonging to Mikayele. Ganizani Lumpha, a relation to Pensulo has vowed to continue damaging Mikayele’s property until he hands himself to poilice.
