Atu’s lone strike earns University of Pretoria  vital points

Malawi international striker Atusaye Nyondo on Sunday earned his club University of Pretoria (Tuks) vital points against Absa title challengers Mpumalanga Black Aces.

Nyondo’s lone strike in sixth minute condemned the Aces to a 1-0 defeat in an Absa Premiership game played at Loftus Stadium.

The goal was the Malawi international’s eighth goal of the season, and it really helped the Tuks who are in desperate need of points to move out of relagation zone.

The win also helped Tuks move up to 12 points, one behind Jomo Cosmos who grinded out a 1-0 victory over Orlando Pirates on Saturday.

Nyondo scored in the sixth minute, striking home Thabiso Nkoana’s cross to stun the Aces, and the goal played right into the Tuks’ hands, allowing the team to sit back and play on the counter.

Thabiso Nkoana should’ve doubled Tuks lead just before the break, but the former Ajax Cape Town striker was unable to convert following a defensive blunder.

The Tuks are fighting relegation as the league enters into the second half of the season.
