Playing at home, the Bankers needed to win at all cost to overtake the cops who leads the log table with 21 points.

However, the match which had little to write about settled for a goaless draw.

Both sides failed to produce flashy moments and created minimal scoring opportunities.

The result means that Silver maintain their second position with 20 points one behind the leaders Blue Eagles who are this week on stand by and have a game in hand.

The Bankers became the first team to beat Blue Eagles this season to go top of the league before they were dislodged again from the top spot by the same team some two weeks ago.

Silver coach Lovemore Fazili described the result as disappointing.

“This is not the result we expected and we thought are going to collect all the three points but in football such things happen” said Fazili.

Fazili said the team never played their usual game but remained optimistic they will do better in their next assignments aiming to topple the Eagles.

“The future still look good and we will work hard to overtake Blue Eagles” Fazili said.

On his part, Kamuzu Barracks coach Billy Phambala said he was happy with the result since they were playing away.

“I am happy with the result because collecting a point away from home is not easy. The future is not that bad and we will catch up with our winning ways” Phambala told reporters after the match.

At the Civo Stadium, Epac FC beat resillient Mafco FC 1-0 coutesy of an Antony Banda strike formerly of Civo United and Mighty Be Forward Wanderers.

Epac have moved to fifth position with 16 points alongside Mzuni who have a superior goal difference.

At the Mzuzu Stadium, a Bonda Mpinganjira loan strike was enough to earn Azam Tigers three points as they beat Karonga United.

Games continue on Sunday with Moyale playing Azam Tigers at Mzuzu Stadium, Civo welcome Wizards FC while Red Lions face MTN Max Bullets at the Zomba Community Centre Ground.
