BB draw Silver, Nomads get Tigers, KB play Eagles: Airtel Top 8 Cup

The battle lines have been drawn in the prestigious Airtel Top 8 Football tournament following a draw which was conducted on Wednesday night at Ryalls Hotel in Blantyre as country’s football powerhouse Nyasa Big Bullets  face a stern test against  capital city giants, Silver Strikers.

The draw, which was well patronised by all the eight participating teams, and was covered live on MBC Television saw  some mouth watering fixtures.

For instance, in a capital city derby, Super League champions Kamuzu Barracks will face Blue Eagles, while in a soldiers affair, Mafco FC  has been handed a tie with Moyale Barracks.

Mighty Be Forward Wanderers  will also fancy their chances  of continuing their record to be inaugural winners of trophies in the land was they are paired against  tricky Azam Tigers.

According to Football Association of Malawi (FAM) Competitions Manager Gomegzani Zakazaka, the first leg games in the quarter finals draw will be played in the weekend of 14-15 May 2017.

Zakazaka also said the away goal rule will be played during the tournament.

During the draw, Airtel also presented kits to the participating teams.

Airtel Malawi Marketing  Director Emmanuel  Kasambala, assured soccer lovers in the country to expect to be entertained, surprised, engaged and be part of the Top 8 Cup action.

Daudi Ntanthiko from FAM applauded Airtel and said they are overwhelmed with excitement.

The  winner  will receive a cool K15 million while the runners-up will get a K5 million consolation.

That is not all.

All the participating teams will get a K1 million subvention each.

The slogan of the tournament is ‘making football alive.’

The  tournament will be played over  four  weeks.

The  Cup  has also  mouth watering individual awards with the player of the tournament and top scorer each walking away with a whopping K500 000.

The fans have not been left out in the cold and the outstanding supporter will get K200 000.

In the media category, the best reporter for Television, print, radio, online and photographer will also walk away with K200 000 each.

MK1m subvention for each participating teams. Kkkkkkkkk. Midiocrity at its best. Modern day slaverly. Choncho mpira nkumati utukuka with RVG hired. Nyamilandu and your team at FAM are realy jockers.
