We need the law to fill the gap in our laws but the punishments sound overly exaggerated. K15m or 15 years are way too harsh for these crimes when rapists or cashgaters who ruin lives and this country get 6, 7 or 9 years sentences. While the law is being put in place can we also seriously think about access to ICT services in Malawi. The majority still can’t afford internet in the first place which is too expensive here. Promoting education is key to ensuring a generation that can gainfully use ICT. Let’s continue the telecentres project.

Does the country have expertise to determine if indeed an individual is or was spreading viruses and malicious ware intently or willfully?

A hacker can use another unsuspecting individual’s PC to distribute malicious ware without slightest knowledge of the owner
