Billy, Mlaka, Chinga disappointed after ‘no show’ at Great Angles CD launch

Veteran musicians Billy Kaunda, Mlaka Maliro and Grace Chinga were left disappointed when they failed to perform during the launch of DVD of Great Angels Choir’s Mwasankha Ine album on 25th December at Sheafer Gardens in Lilongwe.

Kaunda, who alongside Chinga, were the main headliner for the show which started in Blantyre at BAT ground the previous week was set to perform at Sheafer Gardens in Lilongwe in what was called a must not miss show as fans were expecting to welcome on stage one of the veteran in  music circle who after his loss in parliamentary elections in 2014 has been quiet of late in music circle

The show which was highly patronised started on a high note with great performances from The Marvelous Deeds, Peter Mlangeni,  Holy Cross Choir from Blantyre, Steve Wazisomo Muliya, The Mighty POV, Limbani Simenti before Great Angels came on stage where they gave the audience five back to back songs before they launched the DVD which was bought at K2 million by Senior Prophet Justice Hara.

The rains which disturbed the show as some fans jumped on the stage to hide from it and other run into tents which were erected at the venue with some fans still remain on the ground waiting for more from the artists

When the rains stopped after an hour the Director of Ceremonies who were Pentecostal life FM presenter Ali Kalichero and Zodiak Broadcasting Station Presenter Joseph Mwanoka called Grace Chinga on stage but before he started performing the show was stopped by the owner of the band who said the show could not continue.

It took close to 30 minutes Grace Chinga and her backers remain standnin the stage while the great angels choir directors William and Ephraim Zonda tried to reason with the owner but it yielded anything as he stood film that they can’t continue using the speakers as that will be risky to hus equipments

Zonda came on stage to apologise to the fans as the fans were overhead shouting saying they have been robbed since the artists they paid for were yet to perform

Kaunda who looked disappointed refused to grant an interview but one of his band member blamed the organisers for inconsistencies of their program as they had to put other artists like POV who were not on the performing list.

Chinga and Mlaka said they are disappointed .

Meanwhile, Nyasa Times can reveal that Mlaka Maliro was given his K60, 000 fee even he though didn’t perform as it wasn’t his fault

Inside sources within the choir also reveal that they realised closed to K8. 5 million from the Lilongwe show and K4 million from Blantyre show

Meanwhile the group is set to launch the DVD in Mzuzu at Boma Park on 1st January, 2016 where Billy Kaunda , Grace Chinga and Mlaka Maliro are not part of the show as their contract was for Blantyre and Lilongwe shows only .
