Government and family members of former president Bingu wa Mutharika have organised a memorial service for the fallen head of state, who died four years ago.

Office of the President Cabinet statement says President Peter Mutharika will  lead family members and the nation at the memorial service at Chingadzi Parish in Thyolo.

It is not yet known when Mutharika exactly died as South African doctors said he died on April 5, 2016, others say he died on April 6 whilst the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) said the former head of state died on April 7, 2012.

A commission of Inquiry on his death found that he died on April 5, 2012 but the government then kept it a secret in fear that the then vice president Joyce Banda would take over power as enshrined in the Republican Constitution.

Mutharika died of cardiac arrest or heart attack.

O……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..O . . . When he was about to be executed, Socrates had this to say . . . “The hour of departure has arrived and we go our ways; I to die, and you to live. Which is better? Only God Knows.” – Socrates . . . This notwithstanding . . . “It matters not how a man dies, but how he lives. The act of dying is not of importance. It lasts so short a time.” – Samuel Johnson . . . What is known however, is that . . . “A useless life is an early death.”… Read more »
