Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa is the new chairman of the Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM), an umbrella body of the Bishops of the influential Roman Catholic Church.
The leader of Archiepiscopal See of Blantyre was chosen during First Annual Plenary Meeting held at Catholic Secretariat in Lilongwe, according to Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Chimombo who is acting Secretary General of ECM.
He replaces Bishop Joseph Zuza who died recently following a road accident.
Bishop Msusa was born on February 2, 1962 at Iba Village in Mangochi District. He was ordained priest on August 3, 1996 at St. Augustine Cathedral in Mangochi Diocese. He was appointed Bishop of Zomba Diocese on 16th January 2004, and was consecrated on 17th April in the same year.
His Grace Bishop Msusa will be deputised by His Lordship Bishop Martin Mtumbuka.
Archbishop Tarcisius Ziyaye who is the Archbishop for Lilongwe Archdiocese was elected Bishop-Chairman for the Catholic Secretariat and also for Finance.
