Bishop Stima appointed Apostolic Administrator for Blantyre Archdiocese

Auxiliary Bishop Montfort Stima has been appointed Apostolic Administrator for Blantyre Archdiocese until the Pope chooses Archbishop for the archdiocese.

Blantyre Archdiocese consultors met and appointed Bishop Stima to head the archdiocese after the transfer of Archbishop Tarcizio Ziyaye to Lilongwe Archdiocese.

This means that there is a possibility of him being appointed Archbishop of the Archdiocese.

Pastoral secretary for Blantyre Archdiocese Fr. Alfred Chaima has already communicated to the clergy in the archdiocese.

“This is to inform you that members of the college of consultors met and have chosen His Lordship Stima to be the administrator of the Archdiocese of Blantyre. Let us therefore work and cooperate with him as our administrator. Let us pray for him,” reads Fr Chaima”s communication to the clergy in the archdiocese.

Public announcement is yet to be made.

Bishop Stima was ordained priest in 1986 as the only priest in Blantyre Archdiocese in that year.
