Blair hails Malawi Pres. Banda reform agenda progress

Malawian President Dr Joyce Banda met with former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair and his wife, Cherie Blair, at Sanjika Palace in Blantyre on Wednesday, during which they discussed the progress of the President’s reform agenda, the economy and the up-coming elections.

Blair praised President Banda for her commitment to improving lives and transforming Malawi, noting the positive governance reforms and stabilisation of the economy, under her leadership.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss the continued support of the Africa Governance Initiative (AGI) for the Government of Malawi.

Blair, who is the founder and patron of AGI, said that AGI would continue to support the Government to drive real change and development in Malawi.

The former British PM also met briefly with the Chief Secretary to the Government Mrs Hawa Ndilowe and the President’s advisory team.
