“The sponsorship has no conditions as long as players or members of their family need medicine, the support will always be there,” said Tayub.

Tayub said the sponsorship is limited to Blantyre United players only and that they will be provided with proper documents for easy identification in their shops.

Blantyre United Football Club Marketing and Public Relations Officer, Prince Jere commended Citipharm Pharmaceuticals for the support saying it would encourage the team to do better in the 2013 football season.

Jere said even though the financial crisis has not spared anyone, Citipharm has managed to support the team looking at its achievement in the just ended football season.

“The sponsor is also going to give us a jersey. This is encouraging indeed and let me promise here that come next season, it will be more fire.

“We are going to grab some of these league championships. Our target last season was to grab TNM Super league but we failed due to lack of sponsorship. This pharmaceutical sponsorship quite commendable looking at how expensive medicine has become in the country,” said Jere.

One of United players, Isaac Mphamba said the sponsorship has encouraged players as they will try to work hard considering that the medication would be there all the time.

Mphamba said football needs support and that the pharmaceutical support is one step ahead to the team’s welfare.

The Citipharm Pharmaceuticals opened its doors three years ago. The pharmacy is planning to open another branch in Blantyre besides the one it has in Limbe
