Lilongwe based police outfit Blue Eagles F.C who are the current leaders of the top flight TNM Super League beat Moyale Barracks at the Mzuzu Stadium to maintain their excellent start to the season.

John Junior Malidadi scored the only goal of the match to extend his teams’ lead at the top of the log table with a seven point’s gap and unbeaten so far.

Eagles have now accumulated 18 points from six games they have played so far and sitting pretty on the top of the table.

Eagles coach De Clerk Nsakakuona has admitted that it is important for his side to pick up as many points as possible during the early stages of the season.

Nsakakuona believes that Eagles must continue their run for as long as possible because “bad moments will arrive” during the course of the season.

“It’s very important to be unbeaten and to achieve more points at this moment because bad moments will arrive as teams settle but if we cruise with more points, it’s much better,” Nsakakuona told Nyasa Times.

Asked  about title hopes, Nsakaukona said: “It’s too early to talk about that. Our focus now is to maintain the lead.”

Last season’s runners up Mafco F.C are on second position with 11 points from the same number of games.

They managed to collect maximum six points in their southern region tour over the weekend where they managed to beat Wizard F.C 3-1 on Saturday before stunning Mighty Be Forward Wanderers 3-2 on Sunday.

Silver Strikers returns from the northern region with four points after drawing 0-0 against Mzuni on Saturday before thumping new comers Karonga United 3-0 24 hours later.table

They have 10 points apiece with Mzuni F.C and Moyale Barracks but Mzuni have a superior goal difference and sits on position three.

Kamuzu Barracks were 5-1 winners over rookies Dwangwa United while Max Bullets and Epac played out a goalless draw.

Meanwhile, Mafco F,C captain Paul Ndlovu says their mission is to win the league this season as well as the Presidential Cup.
