bmA throng of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials stormed the official residence of Malawi’s ailing former president Dr. Bakili Muluzi on Friday afternoon to continue with the seizure of all vehicles belonging to the former president.

According to an eye witness who is at the gates of the private residence, a team of ACB officials is effecting a warrant it got from the court to have Muluzi’s property that include his BCA house and vehicles seized before he leaves for the United Kingdom where he is expected to undergo major operation on his slipping discs.

“I’m right outside the BCA gates and there is a group of ACB officials who say they have come to seize all vehicles belonging to Muluzi, we’re yet to see how they’ll proceed,” said James Makanga of Bangwe.

Efforts to talk Muluzi’s lawyers or any UDF official were futile while ACB director Alex Nampota could not pick up his phone.

ACB publicist Egritta Ndala demanded for a questionnaire in order to provide Nyasa Times with the required information.

Over the recent weeks the Mutharika led government through the graft bursting body has tormented and harassed the former president even before the commencement of the MK1.7 billion trial which the former president is answering despite his poor health.

He was supposed to jet off to UK last Wednesday for medication but the Nampota blocked him by grabbing Muluzi’s passport  and travel documents claiming he had information to the effect that the former president would not be coming back home.
