Bullets oust Silver in Malawi Carlsberg Cup

A 23rd minute goal from Dalitso Sailesi was enough for the Big Bullets to show an exit-door to Silver Strikers in the Carlsberg Cup round of 16 on Saturday at the jam-packed Kamuzu Stadium.
The People’s Team kicked-off the game on a jittery note especially upfront where Diverson Mlozi partnered Gabadihno Mhango.

Mhango was substituted in the second half  as he was out of form that he only managed one shot on goal.

The Bankers, who were more organised in defence especially through their captain Lucky Malata lacked the killer punch in the striking force where Chawanangwa Kawonga was paired with Green Harawa.

Harawa, who was forced out of the field after sustaining an injury was completely tamed well with Douglas Chirambo.

The moment of celebrations came in the 23rd minute when Dalitso Sailesi sneaked through a forest of the Bankers defenders to make it 1-0.

With the absence of Fischer Kondowe, Bullets relied on Sailesi to supply balls a to Mhango and Mlozi, who failed to tick.

Come second half, it was Bullets all over as they kept the Bankers on the tight rope.

Despite introducing Ndaziona Chatsalira, the Bankers couldn’t found the net.

Big Bullets will now face Kamuzu Barracks on Wednesday at Dedza Stadium after the capital city soldiers pruned Blue Eagles 4-3.

The Soldiers scored their goals through Harvey Nkacha’s had trick and Kelvin Malikebu while the area 30 Cops notched their goals through Chisomo Chilasa, Elia Kabingu and Charles Ngoso.Big Bullets stand came in large numbers....Photo Jeromy Kadewere
