Bullets score sweet revenge with GOtv Cup win against Malawi champs Silver

Big Bullets exacted a sweet revenge to Super League champions Silver Strikers for the Presidential Initiative on Sports (PIS) loss when they beat them 2-1 in the GOtv Soccer Challenge at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe on Saturday.

It was a sweet revenge for Bullets who lost to Silver 1-0 in the Presidential Cup launch game in Mzuzu last month.

Bullets coach Eddington Ng’onamo, who is also Malawi national team caretaker coach. Praised his charges for showing big heart, passion and pride to not want to lose the GOtv Challenge match.

“It was a very exciting game of football to watch, typical cup game, but Bullets showed passion and defended its pride by winning,”  he said.

“Credit should go to the players for fighting their lungs out throughout the game,” said Ng’onamo.

Bullets scored through substitute Lawson Chilewe first  and Heston Munthali in the  78th minutes after planting  home a Douglas Chirambo cross.

The Banker goal came from Chawanangwa Kawonga in the 81st minute.

Bullets received K1 million plus a traditional trophy while Silver got K500, 000 from sponsors Multichoice Malawi.

Earlier on fans watched netball involving South Select and Central Select which saw South Select carrying the day.
