Bullets through to round of 16: Malawi Presidential Cup
Big Bullets are through to the Presidential Cup round of 16 after seeing off Escom United on Wednesday at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre in a cricket score line 6-0.
The People’s Team, who missed the services of their wonder boy Gabadihno Mhango, were in real business from the word go, as the combination of Diverson ‘Agogo’ Mlozi, Dalitso Sailesi and Chimango Kayira was thorn to the Electricians defence which was marshalled by Mwai Chisale. Big Bullets’ 6-0 comprehensive demolition of Escom United
Mlozi registered a hat-trick.
Other goals came from substitute Chikumbutso ‘Jet-Li’ Kanyenda and a brace from Henry Kabichi.
Big Bullets fans chanted “Malawi! Malawi! Malawi!” Meaning the People’s Team is a national side.
The Bullets coach Edington Ng’onamo, who is also tactician for the National side, described their victory as a
statement of intent.
“This is just the beginning and more is yet to come. Our focus is to grab the Cup,” said Ng’onamo, while his Escom United counterpart Kondwani Gawani blamed lack of experience from his charges after losing the majority of their key players following their relegation.
“We are in the process of building a team,” said Gawani.
But there was some flashes of skills in Escom players Emmanuel Kakhobwe and Rodrick Kamange.
