Buzz TV show gaining popularity in Malawi

In a bid to push for more local content on television, versatile radio DJ Cee Dub has introduced a new live show on Timveni TV which is currently gaining popularity in the country.

Cee Dub.

Christened “Buzz”, the show beams live on Mondays from 8pm to 9pm on GoTV channel 803 and on Kiliye Kiliye decoder channel 103.

“The show is only two weeks old and so far the feedback has been positive from the two episodes. Our aim is to entertain the viewer on Monday nights, highlight what happened over the weekend as we prepare the viewer to focus on the new week,” Cee Dub told this publication in an exclusive interview on Thursday.

According to the Buzz presenter, the show targets the youth and those that are young at heart.

“60 percent of Malawi’s population is the youth hence targeting the youthful audience one is assured to have more viewers,” he noted.

Buzz is a showbiz show which features music video premieres, interviews, entertainment news and competitions among others.

“We have a segment where we are running a competition. We ask the audience to film themselves singing and submit the videos to us via WhatApp. The WhatApp videos are featured on the show and the audience votes. Winners stand a chance of winning different prizes,” Cee Dub disclosed.

He further added that the show also features a bit of international content.

“We have a segment ‘Behind the art’ where we feature behind the scenes. This is the only segment that features international content. The aim is to do comparisons with the local productions,” he said.

He added: “We are trying to run away from foreign content”.

Cee Dub, real name Charles Kululanga joined FM 101 Power in 2004. He also worked with Joy Radio before joining Timveni.

“Since 2004, I have been on and off on radio because of school. However, I joined Timveni child and youth organisation in August 2015,” said the DJ with the golden voice.

Sure, u are right this so called Go TV is only for city dwellers not like us in the village but we also have money that if given chance to connect we won’t fail to pay that K7000. So they must think of extending their audience as well not just within cities.
