C.I Catholics hail Malawi ex-president Muluzi

St Montfort Marie de Montfort Catholics in the Archdiocese of Blantyre have hailed former president Bakili Muluzi for helping them acquire the land on which their new church launched on Saturday is located.

Parish chairperson Matthews Mboola said Muluzi helped them to acquire the land for their church project during his presidency.

The new church building comprises 2070 square metres gross ground floor and and 540 square metres of mezzanine balcony suspended floor giving a total seating capacity if 2500 people.

“We would like to thank former president Dr Bakili Muluzi for helping us get this land when he was president of the country. May God bless you Dr Muluzi,” said Mboola.

Mboola then asked President Joyce Banda to also help the parish acquire the amusement park which is close to the parish for more developments of the parish.

In reaction to the request, president Banda asked Blantyre City Council chief executive officer Ted Nandolo to stand.

When Nandolo stood, Banda said, :” Since am here and the city CEO is here, the request is answered.”

The opening of the Church also included the 100th anniversary of the parish whose patron is St Louise Marie de Montfort.
