Call us Wizards FC – Peter Mponda
Former Surestream FC technical director Peter Mponda has announced that the team’s new name will be Wizards FC.
After parting ways with sponsors Suretream Petroleum, Mponda was asked to change the club’s identity before its next fixture next week.
The short-fused former Flames skipper said he has picked the name Wizards FC as a tribute to his former Canadian club, Ottawa Wizards.
He also said the team will change its base from Surestream Stadium in Chilomoni Township.
Nyasa Times understands that the team may relocate to Complex at College of Medicine.
Surestream will now concentrate on the academy which is its core business.
Mponda’s club has been given permission to still use the Surestream kits, but will have to remove the name Surestream and its logo.
Wizards FC, said Mponda, is talking to potential partners and sponsors.
“I will come out once everything is finalised,” he said.
Mponda will also inherit all the players that are above 17 and even those that are below, but were registered by the club with Sulom.

Congrats Mponda it’s a good start you have lived soccer so it’s not like you’re venturing into unknown world. Only the name of your team Peter, it doesn’t make me comfortable I think you will reconsider BUT that’s my personal opinion which I’m open to criticism.
