Campaign for Female Education in visit to Malawi Science Unversity
Campaign for Female Education (CAMFED) has been commended for motivating girls to perform well in science subjects in Chiradzulu.
Head Teacher for Providence Industrial Mission (PIM) Ruth Chibani made the remarks following the learning visit which 46 form four girl students from different Community Day Secondary Schools (CDSSs) in Chiradzulu made to Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST).
The visit was organized by CAMFED which provides bursary to needy girls in CDSSs in the district.
Chibani said the trip to MUST was timely organized as it will boost the girls’ morale to double their efforts in sciences considering that they (girls) will soon sit for Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) exams.
“This trip should give you impetus to work hard in science subjects to make it to MUST or any other University in the country,” urged Chibani saying going to University requires discipline and hard work.
The Head Teacher said the trip was also another way of strengthening science clubs which CAMFED facilitated their establishment in CDSSs where students on their own teach each other and share experiences.
She added that the science clubs has helped improve performance of girls in science subjects. At MUST, the girls visited the laboratory, girl’s hostels and the Library besides interacting with University students.
