Caretaker coach admits ‘relief’ after Silver return to winning ways

Silver Srikers caretaker coach Stain Chirwa admitted his relief after watching his side return to winning ways when they defeated resilient Mponela United in the TNM Super League match on Wednesday in Lilongwe.

Chirwa said the win was a morale booster to the club.

“With all that was happening at the club, it is great that we won,” said Chirwa.

“ Now we can have self-belief to play to our potential. I give credit to the players for giving their all today.”

Chirwa – who was hired together with Francis Songo after the coaching panel was suspending due to poor results –  said he is encouraged form what he has seen from his team.

Silver who lost Lucky Malata when he received a red card, went on to beat Mponela 2-0,.

Frank Banda was the first to be on target after heading in a brilliant free-kick from Ndaziona Chatsalira.

Rodrick Gonani, who has just been pardoned by Silver executive committee, justified his inclusion by scoring the winning goal with just a minute before the end of the match.
