Carlsberg Malawi employees strike

Business came to a standstill at Carlsberg Malawi following the demand for the company’s failure to honour a 250 percent bonus which they promised to their employees.

According to an inside source instead of the 250 percent bonus which they were promised earlier on, the company has made a u-turn by cutting it further to 25 percent.

When Nyasa Times stormed Carlsberg Malawi premises at Makata Industrial area in the populous Ndirande Township, all employees were gathered outside the company demanding for the removal of Kasten Von Bersek who is Head of Finance.

“We have downed our tools not only here in Blantyre but in all regions where Carlsberg is operating. We need this man heading the Finance department to go back to his home country. As am talking to you now the whole company has come to a standstill and he is hiding at his house,” narrated the angry employee.

The staff are also demanding salary increment to mitigate the rising cost of living.

One of the employees said since most staff had been complaining of the rising cost of living, they expected their salaries to be revised upwards .
