Church authority said the Nkhoma Synod  decided to donate maize to the hunger affected  people in the area as one way of sharing Jesus Love.

Synod General Secretary Reverend Vasco Kachipapa said even Jesus Christ himself had a passion to feed the needy and there is nothing new in what the church is doing.

Reverend Kachipapa appealed for more food aid in the area.

“We will distribute this maize to everyone without discrimination based on church doctrine,” said Reverend Kachipapa.

The church with funding from Marion Medical Mission(MMM)  is rolling out food aid distribution programme which amounts to K15 million.

The church through the same institution has already reached to 600 people with food Aid.

MMM has been operating in Malawi since 1990 and has so far been working in the area of water and sanitation.

Speaking during the function, Marion Medical Mission President Tom Loga his organisation will never leave people of Lilongwe alone.

Loga said the organisation will roll out to other districts once the resources allows to do so.

Group Village Headman Mikolo, has since thanked Nkhoma synod for the donation.

Mikolo said the maize will be used for the intended purpose and not for sale.

The 2014/2015 growing season has been one of the worst seasons in Malawi following devastating floods and draught which affected almost 25 districts.

Floods washed away at least 64 000 hectares of crop fields throughout the country, mostly in the Southern Region.

Thanks Nkhoma Synod for being a conduit for help. However, more blessed is the person a thousand miles away from Malawi but out of love for humanity parts away with his/her penny to help someone who he/she doesn’t know.
