Chakwera noted that Malawi remains poorest country and pockets of poverty in other African nations can be attributed to greedy politicians who he said constantly interfere with investment projects.

“”I believe that the future of Africa and Malawi in particular is bright with all the resources that we have but we have to do business with integrity,” said Chakwera to reporters on Sunday at Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe on arrival from South Africa where he attended a four day Global Business roundtable conference, Sandton convention centre, Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Conference was held under the theme “Investment Opportunities in Africa”. It was sponsored by the Development Bank of South Africa and attracted reputable speakers from several countries including Ethiopia, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Nigeria, Kenya, Mozambique, Spain, Swaziland and Tanzania.

“Transformation can indeed take place within a short period of time. The problem is some politicians always interfere with procurement and what have you. This has to be discouraged”, said Chakwera.

Malawi opposition leader said Africa needs transformational leaders who set good examples to be emulated by their followers.

He said the country should ensure it adopt a culture of integrity and desist from wrongful self enrichment.

Chakwera, who was well received by Malawi Congress Party (MCP) members, said Global Business Round Table Conference will benefit Malawi as a nation.

He said the meeting was organized in order to allow political leaders and business community to find ways of tackling poverty among poor African Countries.

Chakwera said the conference gave delegates an opportunity to market Malawi to the investors from United States of America, Europe and other countries.

The Global Business Roundtable is a Non-Profit Organization and is managed by global business leaders. Successful leadership is a key component in the structures of the organization.

The word of God regards leadership of this world so highly probably because the leadership is entrusted with the responsibility of looking after God’s people. That is why the bible emphasizes that we should respect our leaders and in fact it urges us to pray for our leaders (1 Timothy 2:2-3). You notice that the bible says we should pray for everyone (leaders inclusive) but it goes on to emphasize on praying for leaders. It is the leaders that portray their authority as being against Godly things because of the type of leaders that we usually have. In other words… Read more »

Chakwera you are becoming irrelevant. You think running government is like ubusa? It needs brains. Its not about miracles and manna.

Well said bwana chakwera our country needs leaders that have its interest at heart. We are a rich country in resources the problem are leaders whose interest is none other than enriching themselves. This is why our leaders do not want to eradicate corruption as it is their means to riches. We need leaders that are ethical and have serious intentions to develop our nation. I am sure God will find a way for Malawi to get read of myopic and corrupt leadership. We can not go on the way we are after 50 yrs of independence.
