CHAM gets K19m Toyota Land Cruiser from US centre for disease

The United States Centre  for  Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Wednesday  handed over a K19 Million, all weathered road,  Toyota Land cruiser to Christians Health  Association of Malawi(Cham), meant for HIV and Aids project.

The vehicle will support Cham in implementing HIV project in over 20 health centers which provides HIV services.

The health facilities are empowered and Sub Granted to implement the various HIV activities with Cham secretariat.

Cham Executive Director Mwai Makoka says the vehicle will go a long way in enabling Cham to be able to visit hard to reach areas.

Makoka promised to take care of the vehicle by checking  abuse of any form.

USCDC Chief medical officer Daniel Singer while handing the vehicle expressed his organization commitment in by making sure that the project is getting the necessary support from his organization.

Cham partnered with CDC in 2009 to implement a project aimed at strengthening the delivery, coordination, scale-up and monitoring of HIV services in the faith based health sector in Malawi.

So far the project has received funds amounting to US$8,865, 000.

The project has two component; service delivery and development of human resource.
