Chanco fails to open for 2013/14 academic year: University of Malawi

Chancellor College of the University of Malawi in the eastern city of Zomba has failed to open for the 2013/14 academic year for unspecified reasons.

The college was supposed to open this month but it has communicated to its students that it will not open.

“Chancellor College wishes to inform all its continuing and first year students that the College shall not open for the 2013/2014 academic year as scheduled due to reasons beyond its control.

“The actual dates for the opening of the College shall be communicated to all students in due course through the media,” reads a statement from Chancellor College registrar which Nyasa Times has seen.

The registrar also informs students that end of year examinations results will be out on October 23, 2013.

During the late President Bingu wa Mutharika administration the college was synonymous for frequent closures but President Joyce Banda vowed to ensure the College is not disturbed.
