Che Nkope comic-maker hospitalised: MIJ FM seeks financial support
Nicholas Mbonera, who is also a DJ at Malawi Institute of Journalism( MIJ) FM and acts out the role of Che Nkope in a popural comic has been hospitalised with a heart problem, reports indicate .
He is receiving treatment at Blantyre Adventist Hospital but his brother James, says the Che Nkope also known as Nthumwi Nikodemo of the Atumwi fame will need foreign expatriate treatment.
“He is inthe intensive care unit but in a stable condition,” James said of Che Nkope.
MIJ Radio is appealing to well-wishers in the country for assistance to enable the comic r travel to South Africa to access medical treatment on his heart problem.
K6 million is needed to cover travel costs and medical bills.
According to the radio, Che Nkope has been diagnosed with Cardiogenic shock which occurs when the heart is unable to pump as much blood as the body needs.
MIJ FM has therefore organized a music fundraising show which will take place at Robin’s Park on 20th July 2014 in Blantyre.
The musical show will involve various artists like, Ethel Kamwendo Banda, Ndirande Anglican Voice, Princess Chitsulo ,Patience Namadingo ,Khama Khwiliro, Limbani Simenti, Aubrey Kusakala and his long time friend Piksy, Joyful Souls and many more.
The show will start at 13:00pm to 17:00pm and charges are K1,000.00 per head.

Che Nkope versus Nancy comics have become such a sensation on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Whatsapp.
Mbonera says he mooted the Nancy character in 2009 when some girl from Che Musa was head-over-heels in love with him and used to make long annoying calls to him.
He however, admitted that during the making of the comics, he never thought they would be such a sensation in the entertainment industry.
Mbowela is planning to produce a sitcom that will feature Nancy and Che Nkope modelled around Rowan Atkinson’s Mr Bean.
He released a song titled Some More which features Dan Lu and Nancy. The song is a theme song and was included in the Che Nkope versus Nancy CD but will also be included in his upcoming album.
