Chilumpha drums up support for JB in Nkhotakota

Peoples Party (PP) Second vice President for the Central Region, Dr. Cassim Chilumpha, has appealed to the people of Nkhotakota to be united in supporting   President Joyce Banda in order for the Government to further maintaining country’s economy and implementing various development projects to the district and the entire nation.

Chilumpha, who is also a member of parliament (MP) for Nkhotakota South, was speaking over the weekend at a rally he held at Chisoti Primary School Football Ground in the area of Senior Chief Malengachanzi in the district.

He said PP led government in its 2013/2014 national budget has lined up a number of programmes meant   for the ordinary and poor Malawians to benefit.

He told Nkhotakota South constituents that government, under Banda’s leadership, has plans to build health clinic and a secondary school in the constituency soon before 2014.

The parliamentarian called on chiefs and community leaders who are along the Lakeshore Road to discuss and identify a proper place for the secondary school.

“I know, you have been appealing to government for a secondary school. So far, government has sourced funds to construct the school. Now, you need to find a proper and conducive place as quick as possible for construction to start.

“But construction of the health clinic is expected to start in two weeks’ time from today because Nkhotakota District Councils officials, concerned partners  and I myself went  to the site where we want to build it where we observed that everything is ready,” Chilumpha said.

Chilumpha assured his constituents that they would also benefit to ‘A Cow A Family Initiative.’

“Let me assure that the state president will come to donate cows to the selected families as she has done recently in areas of Senior Chief Mwadzama and Traditional Authority (TA) Mwansambo,” he said.

However, Chilumpha admitted that the district is hit by hunger because the rains started late and stopped early before.

He, therefore, said the government is going to conduct hunger situation assessment before it would distribute assorted relief items to victims.

In his remarks Senior Chief Malengachanzi thanked President Dr. Joyce Banda for elevating him to the position of senior chief, pledging his total support to government so that his subjects are to continue enjoying fruits of Dr. Banda’s government.
