Kinnah is optimistic but all is hell for Flames
Kinnah Phiri, the Malawi national football coach is optimistic that his flops can turn the tables round but this is an uphill task for his malfunctioning boys.
“We will never give up, we will fight on” said Kinnah after the game in Guinea.
It is clear to everyone, including Mayi Hilda Manjankhosi, Malawi Congress Party (MCP) women’s league powerhouse; that Malawi’s chances in the competition are now slim-we are not going anywhere.
Malawi has got three games to play. Two at home and one away.
We, the Timau Crew, are not in the habit of giving false hopes to our valued readers.
Our past experience has helped us to come up with spot on predictions.
For instance, when we said that Malawi would beat Egypt, we got it right.
Today, we want soccer fans to have peaceful nights, Malawi is going nowhere. People should watch the remaining games without the high expectations Kinnah has given them.
Of cause he has to remain confident in his team, he is after all the man behind both its misery and success.
Why are we saying that this is the end of the road for the Flames?
Malawi will play Didier Drogba’s Ivory Coast in Blantyre having lost 5-0 away. What gives Malawians confidence that Peter Mponda and co will stop the soon to be 16 million pound Chelsea star, Drogba, who will be surrounded by other professionals like, Solomon Kalou, Didire Zakora, Yaya Toure, Kolo Toure and many more.
Having failed to beat Burkina Faso at home, on what miracle can Malawi defeat Burkina Faso in their backyard?
What gives us so much hope that we will beat Guinea in Blantyre in September if the coach himself is not confident of his own strikers?
Kinnah is talking of recruiting new strikers; will they be good enough to beat Ivory Coast? Your guess is as good as ours.
It is encouraging to learn that the coach’s mood is to continue leading his warring team to success but has he got the ammunition?
The final round will be very tough as teams will now come full blaze.
Although Kinnah Phiri is optimistic of his team progressing to the next round, we are sure somewhere he is digging an escape tunnel. He is probably realising how difficult it is to come up with a winning team overnight.
Everybody is now asking: where has the winning rhythm that he previously brought gone to?
Every thing said, we have to be honest with ourselves, Knnah Phiri deserves a part on the back for bringing the team this far. This is in complete contrast to the expatriates we previously had who were drawing thousands of Kwachas and could not win even a friendly game.

It appears you guys you are afraid of being blamed; Why cannot you prove it in the field, that you can do better;otherwise this was a pre arranged plan;Kanyenda you have been waiting for the right time to quit and now, you found the excuse, to get what you want, this is all about football .If you cannot stand the heat you quit.We need guys who can stand the heat. This could be the very same reason why things do not work;Believe me you;The coach and the players, you all are doing a fine job.

Kinnah is the one who can’t stand the heat. He wants to get praises when the team wins but blames the players when the team loses. Kanyenda did the right thing by quitting the Flames yesterday. Kanyenda didn’t play against Ivory Coast and we lost 5-0. Did Kinnah blame any player when we lost 5-0?
Ndimayesa a kinnah ndi a special one, who gave this name. SHAME, WHY blame strikers. blame the whole team including yourself. U know f/ball is about tactics, u made a tactic of making chiukepo a sub he scored after u remembered that every time he is sub he scores. Apa nkhani alemba bwino ndi a GUJU, Just prepare well then we will be in angola. we reached COSAFA Finals 2 times why? we camped in Denmark. Why do expect to win if u play friendly only only indep day with a minor team swaziland and u cheat u can prepare for drogba. WHAT however clear is that Malawi will still qualify for Angola. Good lesson from USA, it has beaten SPAIN 2-0 yet they had already packed their clothes ready to go to USA. Now they r told u will play in FINAL. UMENEWU nde mpirawo. kanyenda dont quit or else kinnah fire u. anybody in the team given a chance shld score. AM told RONALDO is not a striker but has been Premiere League top goal scorer. If u think a striker shld score every game ask Toress and David Villa lero they have failed to beat Howard. Why part of the game. ANYWAY MAPULEYA ACHIMALAWI KOMABE MUZISEWERA NDI CHOLINGA. Ticket ya ku angola ndidadula kale, i dont need refunds.
From what I read today in the ivorian website,Guinea still has lots of internal problems t deal with.
Titi Camara has decided to drop players like Larsen Toure(Grenoble),Kevin Constant(Chateauroux),the excellent midfielder A.Bangoura(valenciennes),Fode Mansare(Toulouse),Al.Keita Otchiko(of Mallorca in spain)…and lots of others…whom he hinks do not respect him enough…
It makes sense now why none of these guys played any games(vs Burkina Faso,Ivory Coast or Malawi)since Titi became technical directo, then coach.
Well,..,maybe we have a chance in blantyre.Titi has also threatened to Drop Pascal Feindouno also from the Team.
a tisaname zavuta bwana kinnah , apa sitipitirira, chifukwa chiyani tinkandifenda tisanachinye chigoli?
kinnah should not continue blaming strikers, in our time midfilders and diffenders used to score, remember the kaifas, kairas, and many more its the whole team that is missfiring
at times it is difficult to maintain good performance at high levels. it will be better not to qualify than be embarraced at the world cup/can
technically we are not good!
I am an ardent follower of the Flames and was disappointed at the loss to Guinea. I am saddened however by the reports that Kanyenda has quit the Flames over remarks of criticism by the coach. My advice to coach Kinnah Phiri is this: Kanyenda is a very experienced and crafty player we need in the Flames. Please instead of discarding him, change strategy to play Kanyenda as an attacking midfielder behind another striker. And in that position Kanyenda will not only be able to create goals for others but will also be able to score goals. Look back and see how good strikers cum-midfielder like Lawrence Waya used to perform in the 80s! We cannot afford to lose such talent at this point in time! I wish the Flames all the best in the remaining matches.
