Inspiring article. In addition, here are some of the practices & behaviours of exceptional leaders.

Exceptional leaders are concerned with the welfare of the people they lead.Who do leaders lead? People. So their focus should be on people, their needs and progress.

They take challeges, they are visionary, open doors for others to act, model the way, encourage the heart & are wise etc.
Excellent leaders always look for new opportunities & take risks for the development and growth of their societies.Everyone wants a better life & society.Exceptional leaders explore and are resourceful. They have an enquiring mind and have got a business like kind of attitude. They are not scared to invest in new projects for economic growth.Modern technology to speed up processes in Governments departments e,g immigration.

Exceptional leaders are visionary. They do not only think of the present, but the future as well. They take a long term view of the future of the nation and be able to come up with new & imaginative ideas, identify fresh approaches and breaks away from tradition. They employ participative leadership style. They include other people in their plans even enemies so long as they have the ability and knowledge for a health contribution of the country. They hand over power voluntarily.

Exceptional leaders open doors for others to act. They believe in team work and foster collaboration which encourages pooled information and ideas. There is consensus and decisions are consultative. The combination of ideas produce more positive results than using then separately or individually.

They model the way & are exemplary.Very good leaders have good knowledge of profiling,demographics,socio-economic behaviour of citizens.Indeed, are able to break problems into component parts.Make accurate accurate use of logic and draw sound conclusion and judgement from the information available. They lead by example.

Encouraging the heart. They show integrity and fairness in dealings with others and uphold the nation's values.Acknowledge people's success and reward them accordingly.Recognise the individual performance and contribution.celebrate accomplishments and are always inspiring. They are considerate & are concerned with the development of motivated groups.People are satisfied such that they voluntarily do little a bit extra for their leaders.

No present African president can match the dignity of late Mwalimu. we are the most unlucky in Malawi. Late Kamuzu Banda was a true Lion. He could kill his political opponents at wiil in the name of Unity. People from the North were the most affected because they were always regarded as rebels during his 30 year long harsh rule. Then Bakili Muluzi came in 1994. A Thief, who used to promise things that he could not do. A very good public speaker but a dangerous killer adopted from Banda's MCP. The guy who stole millions of Malawi money for his personal womanizing and business entities.

Now we have ada Bingo Wamutharika. He is a very proud man who thinks he is more intelligent than any body else. Very nepotistic. A man who can buy himself a very expensive personal Jet and yet Nurses a crying to have the issue of their scholarships settled. He talks tough about financial discipline but he is a very bad spender. A man who can give 8 fertilizer coupons to a Group Village Leader. Will 8 coupons end hunger in a village of 50 smallholder farming families?

I am Nyamazi signing off.

With these types of leaders, Malawi will not develop the way we people feel and think about our country

The road to perdition is paved with good intentions. I would agree Mwalimu Julius Nyerere had admirable ideals. He knew when to step aside. But I do remember as he stepped aside, he regretted that his socialistic leaning policies had failed his people. Dr Kamuzu Banda,on the other hand, set goals to make his people self sufficent in food, clothing and shelter, which he succeeded to a large extent. Politically we know what happenned. I am told under Adolf Hitler, the German citizens actually had it good and prospered.

Perhaps for true great leadership we should be looking at Moses. He led his people from slavery to their promised land. He had divine guidance rather than rely on human wisdom and understanding. I am surprized the bishops couldn't recognize, or at least acknowledge that!

Our Leaders are there to satisfy their needs basi. Maybe the period is too short the rule the nation. two five-year priod is shorter than what they want. So we shall have no good trusted faithful God-fearing leader in our country.

The problem with the bishops is that they want to change the presidents but forgetting that among them also need a change. If I am wrong argue . We have many sectors that we need to change. Some company managers change only when the seating has passed away. What king of change are they talking about? The papas are there for life. Democracy should be implemented every where even among your children . If the change is from grass root, presidents will not cling on the presidency because they know and learned democracy right there at their homes. We need to change the way we eat the way we deal with others, the way we do everything. Then, obviously we will not have to tell the president to be democratic. He will be aware of his principles. There is something that will never change, we being an African. Unify the democracy that is the only solution to the problem

Zoona i'm a malawian born in Tanzania and i have always admired the humbleness of Mwalimu Kambalage Nyerere. He really lived a very modest life which is in contrast we our fake leaders we have been electing in Malawi. They are too pompous and have never done much to change their lives of their own people than just causing useless divisions for their political ambitions.Malawi hasn't yet really produced a true statesman. All along we have produced useless leaders. Its either they are murderes, thieves or nepotistic and tribal leaders like the fake Ngwazi we have at the moment.
