Timau: Aleke on advertisement ban

Democracy is all about debate.

Nobody, least of all, Aleke Kadonaphani Banda (AKB) has the right to debate the truth of newspaper adverts. If we may ask, was there democracy during the period 1993-2004?

News that Aleke Banda is concerned with the prohibition issued to government ministries, departments and parastatals to advertise in Nation Publications Limited on “orders from above” fascinates the Timau Crew.

Here is a man whose Nation Newspaper benefited from government through adverts when He -Aleke, was a Cabinet Minister in the UDF government.

This man saw the suffocation of all independent newspapers in the country which included Janet Karim’s Independent, The Democrat, The Enquirer, Michiru Sun and many more. Where was Aleke? Why didn’t AKB debate his democratic rhetoric then?

Every dog has its day-so they say.

Today, the wise politician is sulking because his empire has been attacked by government.

We, the Timau Crew do not condone what government has done but we are sceptical with Banda’s sob.

The Chichewa adage, “ukakhala pansana pa njobvu usamati pansi palibe mame” should always ring a bell in politicians’ minds and this includes Team Bingu.

Whatever Aleke is brooding about is indeed bad.  But AKB was in the Team that cornered others. This is exactly what others felt when you were doing it Sir.

Government has valuable opportunity to prove itself for what it has done but the Nation Publications should leave it to others to talk, worst still not former Cabinet Minister, Aleke Banda, whose administration did just that.

Aleke’s tears can not be wiped out by Janet Karim owner of one of the most powerful newspapers which was killed by AKB and company.

Two wrongs do not make things straight but this should be a big lesson to all politicians.

    lake kazuni,
A name can not change the behaviour of a man who is to hit his eighth decade of living on earth like bingu.Him (bingu) was born and raised a hard and merciless person like that.Even if you can take back that ngwazi title 2 day he wont change.About the synod- sometimes when you are dating a woman(courtship) you cant 100% know what she z made of until one day all her true detrimental colours surface and kick her out of marriage.
