Comedian Mdoka jailed 3 years for sexual assault
Comedian, Macxitings Mdoka who hit headlines during January 17 consumers’ protests has been sentenced to three-year jail term for defiling his under-aged house maid.
Blantyre Police have since confirmed the arrest and subsequent three years jail term being served at Chichiri prison.
According to police details and facts Nyasa Times has gathered, Mdoka was convicted and sentenced on October 14th by Blantyre Magistrates Court for repeatedly defiling and impregnating his house maid (name withheld).
Reports also indicate that, the girl who is below 15 years old, was also infected with the deadly HIV, the virus causes Aids.
Blantyre Police assistant Publicist, Lameck Thembachako disclosed that Mdoka, took advantage of his wife’s absence-who was in village-to defile the girl.
The matter, Thembachako said came to light after Mdoka’s neighbours, in Mbayani Township, noted that the girl was pregnant.
“He had been forcing himself on her for several months while the wife was still in the village. It was neighbours who noticed she was pregnant and took up the matter with her aunt. When they confronted him (Mdoka), he accepted impregnating her,” Thembachako explained.
However, situation got tense, according to Thembachako, when the wife got back home and plans were made to force the girl abort the pregnancy.
“Due to the situation, the girl was moved to her aunt’s house. But one day, Mdoka’s wife invited her to their house. She started beating her while stamping on her belly in a bid to force abortion.
“The girl was badly injured and was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) for two days. Her aunt reported the matter at Kabula police, who arrested both Mdoka and his wife for assault”.
But Mdoka’s charge was amended to defilement after QECH medical examination confirmed the girl was indeed defiled and is currently pregnant.
Thembachako said: “Mdoka was taken to court and was sentenced to three years imprisonment with hard (IHL) but his wife is still answering assault charges”.
Nyasa Times visit to Chichiri Prison on Tuesday morning, found Mdoka who claimed to have been jailed due to family issues.
He even jokingly boosted of taking advantage of his jail term to show his acting roots in prison.
“Kodi nkhani zake nkunzimvetsa, ndi za m’banja zomwezi…Koma panopa ndiye ndiphaphalitsa acting moti osati sewero,” Mdoka told Nyasa Times.
