Court convicts PP governor over extramarital affair with married woman

The Mangochi First Grade Magistrates Court has convicted and fined K20, 000 ruling Peoples Party (PP) District Governor for Mangochi-Namwela Lucius Nakwanje for having extramarital affair with a married woman.

Brown Nsanjama has dragged Nakwanje to court on accusations that he is having an affair with his wife of two years, Martha Banda. Nsanjama 25, and Banda 18 years-old are currently processing divorce.

The court convicted Nakwanje after pleading guilty to the offence and was subsequently fined K20, 000 which was duly paid.

He had earlier on confessed of their affair to Namwela police after being caught red-handed on the night of November 18th, 2013-the moment truth about the affair came to light.

However, Nsanjama has expressed dissatisfaction with the court’s ruling, arguing the affair had put his life on danger.

“Considering how he affected my marriage and caused pain my life, I feel the ruling was inconsiderate. They were supposed to punish him severely not to be lenient. I am not sure if they had protected sex or not. What if am infected with HIV,” lamented Nsanjama.

Nakwanje, a Parliamentary aspirant, is said to have been dating Banda for several months until Nsanjama filed a lawsuit, accusing him of affecting his two-year marriage.

Nsanjama accused the politician of using his political status to be having extramarital relationship with married women. Nakwanje, who tried to bribe Nsanjama with K16, 000, framed his accuser and other PP officials of torching his official car.

Nsanjama was arrested together with PP’s Organizing Secretary, Hassan Hussein Matondolo and are on bail over the alleged incident, which Nyasa Times proved to be fictitious as top party officials confirmed the car is still intact and being used for official activities.
