This is a good bill. Don’t worry Mr. minister. We, Malawians, know that this bill is good for us. By presenting this bill in parliament, we know that the government has sacrificed a lot. Honestly, this bill reduces the power of the chiefs and increases the power of the local people over customary land. And this reduces the government’s popularity among chiefs. Kudos Mr. minister.

Well written Atupele! I think your major task is to educate the masses on the content of the bills. Due to low literacy levels some people may not appreciate the importance of registering land. This lack of knowledge also exists in even those one thinks are educated. These bills on land look good, however the opposition will use them against you if you have no budget for civic education.

Haven’t read the amended bill. But from the look of things and pipos comments,I think its a welcome development. Some MPs were in a hurry kumangotsutsa.
