Deputy Speaker urges media to report correct information relating to Parliament
Deputy Second Speaker of Parliament Dr. Clement Chiwaya has challenged the media in the country to disseminate correct information relating to the Parliament in order that people easily relate to development and challenges in the country.
Chiwaya made the remarks Tuesday during the official opening for the two-day media training workshop on parliamentary reporting.
He stressed on the importance of the media being familiar with the processes and procedures of proceedings in the house.
“Most of the stories and news goes out through the media and we thought it is important that we should orient the media in the parliamentary practices and procedures and that is why we feel this workshop is important because we are going to train media personnel in the practices and procedures that we use at the parliament and which in turn help people on how parliament works,” said Chiwaya.
He said parliament thought it wise that once in the while they should be able to interact with the media personnel and impart them with proper procedures and practices that parliament uses.–Mana
