Kadziko kathuka it is not only landlocked but everything locked. From information locked, transport locked, infrastructure locked, electricity locked, running water locked, thought locked, Internet locked. Fact , it is so expensive to do anything in Malawi. Internet prices are over the roof, there is no proper transportation to speak of, ine I envy my Kenyan or Nigerian friends they go home for holiday and they pay 600 dollars for flight but I have to pay double that to come to Malawi. We can not unless you fire the 7 thieving ministers. We have the money and God has indeed blessed us with too much cash here in the diaspora. But as long as team Chaponda is in cabinet, we will never remit our cash over there, never!

It is patriotism that encourages one to invest at home. Zoona mmene mwachititsira dziko lathu manyazi anthu kumationa ngati ndife makoswe, kapena afisi – can one be encouraged to be patriotic? Macadet tu!

Main stumbling block is, if you invest your hard earned foreign currency in Malawi, you will find it very difficult getting some of it back! It’s a fact and based on experience! You heard it. Some of us have tried for many years to invest in our country but can’t even get some of the money we invested out of the Malawi because of the so-called foreign exchange controls. It’s kind of like one way traffic! If you plan to invest hoping to get the margins back in foreign currency, forget it! Stay away…
